Default Niche focus, keyword focus, SEO, and maximizing profits

I need help. This question is about niche focus and maximizing SEO, and of course profits.

site is: female muscle featuring muscle women by lori braun

I recently joined the team for Female Muscle. They are a female bodybuilding website that's been on the web for 15 years. The content is primarily bodybuilder and female wrestling centered, but...here's where it gets interesting...the profit from the site is driven by sister sites that specializing in "live chat" with female bodybuilders, and R-rated nude images of female bodybuilders. Nothing overtly pornish, or that degrades women. The photos are very artistic.

Site traffic is about 1,500,000 pages per month, and driven primarily from search terms related to "female bodybuilders" and "muscle women."

The site is in blog format, and content is all over the map. We are trying to refine the site and maximize profits.

--Do you believe that a lack of niche focus is hurting us? Again, content is all over the map, and more like a personal blog then a niche site. There has never been a true focus on keyword density or targeting a niche. It's just been a "blog and go" type scenario...

--Do you believe our content is fine, but we might be lacking a brand? Is it OK to be all over the map as long as we develop a strong brand?

--From a pure SEO standpoint, what should we be doing better? Again, our format is blog-centered. Navigation is category driven, and categories are generally not labeled to assist with the promotion of our niche.

Our big concern is the focus of the content. I realize that lack of SEO focus is hurting us, but we're also worried about getting too focused on a specific niche after 15 years and fragmenting our readership base. BUT, we need to make more money.

We're definitely NOT maximizing our site for our profit centers.

Thanks for your help...

Maybe you consider using 2 column templates or change your theme. It's kind of hurting my eyes.

We want to change the theme. Can you give us an idea what about the existing theme you dislike so we can make some good changes?

Well with your site, there are so many objects and content that is somehow not that essential. Try to keep those who are in need because your template seems crowded. Somehow it needs space to make it more appealing.
